Infrastructure Engineer, Backup & Cloud Solutions
$50–$53/hr + Benefits – 6-Month, Contract to Hire

Del Oro Consulting, a national consulting solutions provider with 20+ years' experience delivering consulting services to global technology leaders in the US, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to deliver technical consulting services across presales and implementation engagements. This role requires deep expertise in backup, storage, and cloud infrastructure technologies, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions for enterprise clients.

In this role you will own the technical aspects of client engagements from initial assessment through implementation and knowledge transfer. You'll work directly with clients to understand their infrastructure challenges and design solutions that align with their business objectives and technical constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Technical Leadership

• Lead technical aspects of client engagements following our Assess, Design, Implement, and Manage (ADIM) methodology
• Conduct on-site infrastructure assessments and provide detailed analysis of current state environments
• Design and architect backup, storage, and disaster recovery solutions tailored to client requirements
• Present technical recommendations and solutions to client stakeholders at various organizational levels
• Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with technical teams and IT leadership

Implementation & Delivery

• Deploy and configure Veeam Backup & Replication environments, including scale-out repositories and cloud integrations
• Implement Cohesity data management platforms for backup, recovery, and data governance
• Design and deploy Zerto disaster recovery solutions for on-premises and cloud environments
• Configure and optimize storage systems including NAS, SAN, and object storage platforms
• Integrate backup and DR solutions with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Perform virtualization infrastructure upgrades and migrations, particularly vSphere environments

Presales & Business Development Support

• Participate in technical discovery sessions and requirements gathering
• Develop technical proposals and statements of work for complex infrastructure projects
• Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients
• Support sales teams with technical expertise during the opportunity development process
• Contribute to RFP responses and technical documentation for proposals

Required Qualifications:
Technical Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with client-facing IT infrastructure engagements
• 3+ years in IT consulting or professional services environment
• 5+ years working with Veeam Backup & Replication, including advanced features like Cloud Connect, scale-out repositories, and tape integration
• Deep experience with enterprise storage technologies including NAS protocols (NFS, SMB/CIFS), SAN implementations (iSCSI, Fiber Channel), and object storage (S3-compatible platforms)
• Proven experience with VMware vSphere environments, including upgrades, migrations, and performance optimization
• Technical experience with cloud backup solutions including native cloud backup services, cloud repositories, and cloud-to-cloud protection strategies
• Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud backup and disaster recovery architectures
• Working knowledge of network storage protocols, deduplication technologies, and backup target optimization

Cloud & Modern Infrastructure

• Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platforms and cloud-native backup solutions
• Understanding of cloud storage tiers, lifecycle management, and cost optimization strategies
• Familiarity with container backup and Kubernetes persistent volume protection
• Knowledge of immutable backup storage and ransomware protection strategies

Additional Technical Skills

• Understanding of backup and recovery testing, including automated recovery verification
• Network troubleshooting skills related to backup and replication traffic
• Scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation and reporting
• Experience with monitoring and alerting systems for backup infrastructure
